• The road to publication

I’ve been writing for as long as I remember but it was only a few years ago that I was really interested in being published. I had a manuscript that I tweaked for about four years until I thought it was ready. And it most certainly was not! I submitted for a bit and got a lot of “no’s” and many more unanswered requests. I put the MS away for a while until another round of NaNoWriMo came up and I started the book from scratch. There was a feedback call for submission from Harlequin UK that I entered for, because I knew I was in desperate need of feedback. I shined up the MS as best as I could and sent it off.

Two months later I get “The Call” which is as amazing as everyone makes it out to be. I’m pretty sure I was a mumbling mess but the offer for three books in the series made it that much sweeter. After that I had a couple of rounds of revisions. The book I submitted had a pretty concrete ending and I had to adjust it to work with a trilogy. So after that it was a waiting game until my publication date. I was convinced that it was all a dream until I saw the preorder come up and even then I still didn’t believe it was happening. But as publication date rolled around it was all I had ever dreamed of. From start to finish my “road” took about four years until Maggie’s story found a home. I’ve learned so much and I learn something more each day, which makes it an ongoing journey that I wouldn’t trade for the world!
