Jetsam fled Dwim-Halloe as a runaway orphan, escaping both a zealous bounty hunter and a dragon-obsessed fallen knight. Now, the teenager finds himself a fledgling apprentice to the infamous wizard Seryn Vardan, the Oxbow Kingdom’s most wanted fugitive. When Jetsam attempts a heroic rescue during a foray with his teacher, catastrophe ensues as Seryn is captured and slated for execution.

Jetsam vows to free Seryn from his mysterious captors before his public beheading in the city where they are both falsely accused of murder. With his canine companion, Jetsam attempts a risky homecoming by seeking aid from old friends. Can Jetsam save his beloved mentor from certain death, or will he once again be left homeless and alone with a bounty on his head?

My Review: The story just jumps right from where we left and continuing to follow Jetsam's story. He just finished escaping from a hunter and it looks like he won't have much down time. He tried to be a hero and well it didn't go as planned.

So now hes on a rescue mission this time. He needs to get to Seryn fast. He only has so much time before Seryn is going to be killed. Jetsam needs to come up with a plan, get some backup and hope it all goes well. Otherwise he loses everything and will end up on the run again.

I liked how Jetsam seemed more grown up and I got to learn even more about him. For someone his age he shouldn't have to be dealing with any of this, but he is and takes it all in with a more mature attitude than someone his age should have. More characters are also brought in and each one was built well so we didn't spend much time on wishing we knew more about them. The relationship that Jetsam and Seryn have is great and you can feel why he is trying so hard to save him.

I loved the way the story went. The writing is awesome and its only book 2! The author is worth checking out!
